"In writing this book of History of Goa the main purpose is to acquaint the public in general and the younger generation in particular with a systematic and methodical history of our cherished land, bearing in mind the principle laid down by Cicero "to be ignorant of what happened before you were born, it's to live the life of a child for ever." [...]
I have endeavoured in this book to cover the whole range of events from the earliest times down to 1961 and have sorted it out for clarity's sake into distinct and separate periods, namely pre-Historic aun Historic (Hindu, Muslim and Portuguese) with their sub-section.
In addition, a preliminary survey of some important features (physical, social, economic, etc.) of Goa at the beginning and six appendices on some important events of Goa's history at the end have been supplemented."
